Oops, I left one thing out from my previous comment, which you could see if you read between the lines. To avoid this, I say that we can make this measurement, right now, today, without further upgrade. We have the EMCal Rich trigger, which triggers on electrons, of course it starts counting pions at 4.5 GeV/c. If this counting rate is too large (I don't know the value off hand), then we can simply raise the threshold of the emcal. I apologize for two things: 1) that I left this important message out of the previous email--we can do it with no further upgrade!; 2) the second thing that I apologize for is that we can actually do the physics that we stated in 1992, without further upgrade. I remember Tom Kirk's words to me at the opening session of the late SSC in Dallas, when all the many national businessmen spoke and praised the SSC. I asked Tom what are these guys interested in---the higgs? No, he said, the upgrade. It seems that we've all got that way now. Mike Tannenbaum
