Subj:	notes on spin discussion--Parity Violation--10/1/97

Notes on the Spin Meeting of Oct 1:

  (1) It was agreed that A_ll^PV (= [N(++)-N(--)]/[N(++)+N(--)] )
is in fact proportional to the beam polarization, not the 
beam polarization squared, as is often assumed.

  (2) For symmetric final state obervables, A_ll^PV has a fractional
error 1/root(2) times that of A_l.

  (3) The issue of whether the average of the two A_l (i.e. A_ul and
A_lu) could improve things significantly was considered, but no definite
conclusion was reached. This will be readdressed later.
